Your appointment

Before your appointment, a video consultation and patch test will helps me determine the appropriate settings and ensure that your skin reacts well to the electrolysis process.

The actual treatment session can then begin. I’ll gently insert a fine probe into each hair follicle and administer a small amount of electrical current to destroy the hair root. This process is repeated for each hair follicle in the treatment area. Read more about how electrolysis works.

Throughout the treatment session, I’ll continuously monitor your comfort level and make any necessary adjustments to the settings or technique to ensure your comfort and the effectiveness of the treatment.

Once the session is complete, I’ll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to help you care for your skin post-treatment. Depending on your individual needs and treatment plan, we may schedule follow-up appointments to track your progress and address any remaining hair growth.

Preparing for your session

Don’t pluck or wax any hair

Plucking or waxing will stimulate your hair growth cycle and make electrolysis less effective.

Don’t shave close to your appointment

Hairs must be 3mm long so I can remove them with tweezers after a heat pulse.

Exfoliate the day before

This will help lifting off any dead skin cells in the way of hair follicles.

Moisturise

Good hydration allows us to reduce the intensity and the length of the current needed.

Staying comfortable

I’m unable to prescribe or administer any treatments but I can only advise you on what has helped other clients. Please consult your GP before taking any medication if necessary and make sure you follow the instructions.

Antihistamine

This will help to manage your skin reaction after treatment. Take them in the morning and up to 24 hours after.

Pain killers

You can take painkillers with anti inflammatory benefits before your treatment. Avoid aspirin and blood thinning medication, as this slows down the healing process and increases the risk of bleeding.

Numbing treatments

Available at pharmacies and online, you can use creams like LMX 4, Emla and Ametop or sprays such as Ethyl Chloride.

Note some numbing creams require you to keep the surface wrapped with cling film for 30 mins beforehand.
